Hoedown Throwdown

Yes, I saw the Hannah Montana movie. Yes, I enjoyed it. Now on to other topics. I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter Weekend! Because I was home for the weekend, no exciting Chicago tales to tell, not that I have had too many to tell so far. All I can say is, it really helps to get involved in something, like volunteering at church. I am not only chaperoning youth group outings, but I am helping set up a job mentoring program and it really feels good to know I'm doing something beneficial outside of work.

That is my glorious in-depth advice for today.

Monday Night TV

Let me just take a minute to express my annoyance at finding that Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill were both repeats last night...

Okay, now on a different note, I spent the evening watching Greek and Heroes and enjoying Pita Pizzas.

Now, having never actually religiously watched Greek before, I am surprised to find that I really enjoy it. However, for those of you who only started watching it because Jesse McCartney joined the series, be forwarned that he is apparently only going to be on six episodes. Luckily for Greek, they may have me hooked enough that I'll stay beyond those six eps. (SPOILER ALERT) By the way, Jesse is now a Kappa Tau!

Heroes definitely tried to confuse us last night, what with Sylar becoming a shape-shifter. However, I found this type of confusion much more pleasant than the confusion that came a long with all of the jumps between the future and the past. Also, who else is intrigued about the bodies buried in the middle of nowhere?

Eventful Weekend

This weekend, my friend's brother came into town which triggered the most eventful weekend I have had in a while.

On Friday night we went out to an Indian restaurant in Belmont. Now, because there are about five million Indian restaurants in Belmont, I don't remember what the name was, but it was on Clark across from The Alley. While I'm not a huge fan of Indian food, I did enjoy my Beef Tandoor. While it was a little too spicy for me, I was able to eat about half of it.

Later that night we all gathered at a friend's apartment were we consumed beer and fuzzy navels and played Apples to Apples and Jenga. Never knock staying in on a Friday night. Nothing is better than a nice drunken game of Apples to Apples.

On Saturday, me and two friends went to see a matinee of RENT at the Oriental. BEST SHOW EVER!!! Not only were both Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal in it, but what we thought were going to be balcony seats were really good orchestra seats! AND, to top it all off there were sign interpreters for my friend Kate and they were really fun to watch. After I managed to calm down from my excitement about the seats and from seeing Adam and Anthony (yes, we are on first name terms now...) I realized that all of the other performers were REALLY GOOD and I genuinely enjoyed the show.

After the show, hung out at my friend Sarah's place where we last minute decided to jump in a cab and see I Love You Man with her brother and his friend. While it wasn't a terribly amazing movie over all, it definitely had it's moments and we all had a good laugh.

After the movie we met up with a friend working at Pick Me Up Cafe on Clark St. I had some cheese fries while my companions had BBQ Chicken Quasidillas and a falafel. (If you are vegan or vegetarian, or you just really like coffee, this is a great place to go as they have several vegan and vegetarian options, and A TON of coffee).

Ended the night with some more beer and fuzzy navels at Sarah's.

Sunday was spent hanging with my mom in the burbs. Watched Australia, which while not a great movie, and definitely not comparable to Titanic, was a nice lazy way to spend the afternoon.

Hope y'all are excited for Monday night TV! I know I am... ;)

Tuesday Night Amaretto Night?

So, last night I watched Heroes with my roommate. Because of so much TV on Monday night, we DVR Heroes weekly and try to watch it on Tuesday instead.

Over all I think Heroes has been pretty good in 2009 after a slow-moving and slightly disappointing beginning to the season. Last night was no exception. Finally, a relationship seems to be forming between Claire and Nathan, and not one of complete disgust and hatred. Also, Angela may be redeeming herself and Peter has become just a little too whiney. Personally I think they should bring Micah back big time...that boy is just too cute.

After Heroes, my roommate and I met up with a friend at The Atlantic Bar & Grill on Lincoln. We have frequented this little bar on quiet weekday nights and have found it very charming. The bar tender and owner is Irish as is immediately obvious from his accent and he is very friendly and welcoming. The bar gets busy, but is hardly ever crowded and there is plenty of seating for everyone. I always get amaretto on the rocks when I go there and last night my friend ordered some food. She got the BBQ Chicken Wrap and said it's the best wrap she's had in a while. It was also trivia night, and while we didn't participate, I definitely have plans to attend in the future.
